I've heard that silver dollars are vegetarian and will tear through a planted aquarium. Is this true? Has anyone had success with this?

Its true but not absolute. Not all sd revert to their natural instinct to eat plants ant some plants don't taste good to them. I have anubis, green tiger lotus and amazon swords with mine and no problems.

Thanks. I'm going over a ton of different stocking options for my soon-to-be planted aquarium and want a good schooling fish to be with my dwarf pike cichlid.

If you're gonna invest time and effort into having good looking plants, why take the risk? Even if they don't eat them right away, they could in the future. I had kribs that started destroying my swords after leaving them for a year. And they don't even eat plants!
