I know metynnis fasciatus have the strips but do they stay through adult hood?

What other silver dollar fish have stripes but fade as they get older?

The reason I ask is I am trying to ID some metynnis fasciatus.

Searched to no avail.

Thanks!

My understanding is that true Fasciatus retain there stripes. Two of my females are pushing 5 inches with appx 6" being their max size. Their striping is still very strong. As for as other SDs having striping I have not seen any with their style of stripes.
If the ones you are trying to ID are from Oliver then I would say they are.

How big are the sd's that your trying to ID? Also are the stripes fading or dark? Like with shadowstalker my sd's range from 4-5" and their stripes are getting more define as they get bigger.

Found out another one that has stripes but I guess the go away with age. They are Myleus sp Peru and someone said the rubripinnis species but considering I have had redhooks since they were only 1" and didn't really see any definite stripes I am thinking no they don't have stripes.
