Anybody bred sd's? Do they lay eggs on a surface or scatter? If scatter what do the eggs look like? Sorry for all the questions but mine are acting up and I'ld like to know what to look for.

CARGR does pm him .. And someone else just had a colony showing as a side project in the photo loungfe i believe 
My group scatter eggs all over the tank, once a pair gets going the 2nd female usually gets into the act (within the first few hours of spawning-I think), the male shimmies next to the female and stimulating the ovipositor.
They then tilt up a little and a few eggs spew out.
The eggs ranged from slightly milky white to a little yellow/brown colored. And they look quite large, relative to the ovipositor.
I haven't had any eggs survive, but the spawning goes on for a couple days.
To help get them in the mood, I feed them a bunch of boiled lettuce and some higher protein cichlid sticks then ignore them for 2 or 3 days and almost once a month they provide a large amount of egg sized snacks for their tank mates...

You've got some nice sd's. I've got a shoal of 10 dollars, 4 spotted, 4 redhooks, and a yellow hook. At the moment my biggest females vents out and they are breeding all the time. My red hooks have just started.
i have a feeling mine have bred twice since i've had them... but the eggs would be eaten straight away

LOL i gotta add... look at my poor little marbled hatchet(top left), had to empty my community tank incase i decided to strip my female geo's.
