When I feed my 4" silver crickets he will attack anytime of day. But if I put in a couple rosy's my aro don't seem to bother them?!
But every morning there will be a missing rosy. I'm assuming he is stalking the minnows at night, has anyone seen this behavior before?

I think the barbs on their mouth may serve the purpose of touch, and grab while lights are out. Don't believe they can see in the dark though. I had Columbian tetra's in with a Silver Aro and lights out , next morning start missing
tetras one by one. Silver Arowana's are faster than they look lol.

They aren't truly nocturnal but they have very good eyesight so even at night if there is even a glimpse of light anywhere they can see quite well like my aro will freak out at night when I come down for water or come home late when there's like no light

Pretty stoked today, I dropped a few cichlid pellets for my Oscar that's in with the aro in the tank and wouldn't you know it, the aro went straight for them and grabbed two!!! I thought well let me try this again. So I put a couple more in and sure enough the aro are them too!!

Nice the instincts are kicking in. The aro wants to be top dog of tank it's good this attitude is needed when housed with cichlids. I'm actually building a pond outdoor for my aro so stoked the process has begun its gonna be between 300-500 gallons idk yet

I live in Indiana so an outdoor pond just wouldn't cut it, he'd be in a stock tank inside just about as long as he would be in an outdoor pond. My dream is to build a indoor pond with a 1 or 2 viewing windows in my basement around the 500-600g range. Keep me posted on your pond progress!

That sounds like an epic idea. I will update when I begin its construction for now it's merely an idea and some pieces but I live in Florida so outdoor ponds are great but I have to balance this with school so it will take some time

My Silver has been eating pellets regularly for the past couple days. I'll toss a shrimp pellet in one at a time until he gets tired of it, about 3-4 then a cricket. I'm really happy he is finally taking to some pellets.
