So I've had my little Silver for a couple months now. He's a little over a foot long now and has always had a great appetite. He even lets me hand feed him (my fingers now realize what a mistake that was!). But for the past three days whenever its feeding time he just lazily swims down to the bottom and hides out in the little driftwood cave with my bichir and goby. Is this typical aro weirdness or is this something I should be concerned with?

thts weird, Aros are top water swimmers they like being by the surface of the water, What were you feeding him? if your not already doing this i suggest you go out and by Hikari carni sticks, the ones that float its like 20$ so its worth it. maybe put in some stress coat aswell

He refuses to eat pellets or sticks of any kind. Believe me I've tried but I always give out before he does. Right now I'm feeding him shrimp in the evenings and crickets in the morning. He normally goes crazy for the shrimp but nope, nothing for the past few days. Its sure making my rays fat though eating his portion of the shrimp.

yes do that crickets are very good for him, It will keep him strong and healthy till he gets over this odd phase also i suggest tilapia it sinks so maybe try using tongs if he doesn't like going after his food also maybe try puting a minnow for him to chase and get so he can build his confidence up.

Is there something changed recently? or water parameters way off and stressing him out, arowana of any kind won't stay at bottom unless something really wrong (not apply to new introduce to new environment), you got this silver for months so there is something wrong with your water or new decor changed stressing its out. :p
