Which is the better looking fish as an adult, considering both healthy and no drop eye?
I've never seen a large black in person. It's for a large show tank in my living room.
I'm trying to decide which one to get. Since it's a long-term investment, price is not an issue.

dont get a black, ya its better looking but theyre wild caught and not in te best shape in theyre natural habitat. they look quite similar as adults. the big differnce being the blue in the blacks fins as opposed to the red in a silvers fins. juat dobnt get the black, to me its unethical to contribute to the extinction of a species in order to ahve one as a pet.

if you have a large enough tank.....why not get both? maybe 2 silver and 1 black? they are easy to comm.

Well...Black Arowanas tend to end u plooking like Silvers with the exception of darker fins with an orange outline. I would go with a Silver Arowana just because I think they tend to look the same (IMO) and why paid a lot more for something that's basically going to look the same?

in my opinion...i like the blacks way more. in my experience they tend to be a lot more mild than silvers and look better. and from what i know they tend to not get drop eye which in my opinion is very ugly

Just when I think: "That does it, I know which one I want", I get another good opinion and change my mind. Keep 'em coming. I'm still on the fence.

:iagree: :iagree: :iagree:

I've kept both species and would recommend silvers over blacks. In comparison to silvers, blacks look rather dull and doesn't look as impressive as silvers in its body height and thickness. The bright orange on black will dissapear as the fish grows. The only downside I see among silvers are their drop eyes. Apart from that, I would go with silvers all the way :cool-1:
