Well some of you may have seen my other post about wanting to keep a green terror again. My wife bought me a 65 gallon tank for a this to happen although she didn’t buy me the ideal foot print because she didn’t know. Again no way am I’m going to tell her any different cause she was super excited to buy it for me in the first place. I finally have the tank 100% cycled. I took my other 30 gallon tank down and gave it to my nephew like I said I would. Well The time had come to go to the local fish store and see what I wanted. Some of you guys recommended to buy a acara due to the foot print of the tank instead of the green terror. So that’s what I went in search of. I looked at all kinds of fish from flower horns,JD,convicts, fire mouths, oscars, mixed Africans and so on but no acara’s to be found. I talked to the owner of the pet store and he said he could order me one but it would be a few weeks. So I keep on looking through all they have to offer and I come across a tank that has a jewel cichlid in it and in the back corner here comes a green terror to the glass to greet us. It would swim away and come right back saying take me home. So long story short I couldn’t help it I bought it. I brought my firemouths in for store credit so my nephew when he is ready can use that to purchase the fish he wants. Plus I wanted all the room I could get for the green terror as here again the foot print is not ideal. The tank will 100% be all the green terrors accept for a Bn pleco. So here again not being ideal but I’m really hoping the tank will work. Now it was the only green terror they had and it looked kinda dull in color (no orange of the fins) and I’m hoping that it’s a female as that’s what I want as they are normally smaller. Okay now that the back ground is over. I have had the green terror in the tank for 2 days now. It seems to be doing great and is already greeting us when we come up to the tank. Now that I have it in a tank with good lighting I realize that the trim on the fins is actually white where they are normally orange or red. I thought it was just dull in the pet store and maybe it hasn’t got its color yet but now I’m thinking it may be a sliver saum instead. It’s 3” at this time. I would think by now that if it was going to have orange fins it would already be starting to show that. Am I wrong on that. Anyway I tried like crazy to get some pictures of it so maybe you guys can help me out to see if you think it’s a female and do you think it’s a silver saum instead of a gold saum.

It’s almost impossible to get a good picture of it. But from what you can tell what do you think?

Beautiful fish and tank, I don't know GTs that much to tell m from f, but from its silver/white seams I would say is a silver saum. Best of luck to you and your new friend. Keep us posted of its development.

There are 2 different versions of GT's, Rivulatus, and Stalsbergi. The difference is basically the colors on the body are reversed, both can have orange or silver seams.

Thank you. I’ve never seen a silver saum. I had to look them up

It's andinoacara rivulatus aka green terror.
It's the same species as the orange gt just a different colour variant. They are naturally occurring just like the orange gt.
But yes it is a silver saum.
Regarding sex, could do with some close up side on shots to be sure.

That’s cool never seen a silver saum. I’ll try and get some side pictures of it. It’s so active it’s hard to get it to stay still
