silver shark aka bala shark?

is a silver shark the same as a bala/tri-color shark (Balantiocheilus melanopterus)? i just bought 2 small ones at the LFS and they said silver sharks get about 10" while bala/tri-color get a foot long but are otherwise similar

everything i've read and seen online says they are synonyms, what do you guys think?

the same i've seen people refer to them as silver sharks before

yup they're the same thing and they can get up to 13"

If it has black on the fins it is a bala. If not it is probably this one, Labiobarbus leptocheilus (silver sharkminnow)
