Ok now i am worried that my tank is not going to be big enough for my oscar it is 55G it should keep him happy but i dont want to risk it so i was thinking i did more research yay -_- and came across a silver shark (bala shark) they are quite small but can get along with other fish ok that is a bonus the cost is ok i quite like them ok geting to the point is a silver shark a really nice fish to have and what would do you for his/her diet.

Also can you suggest some fish for a 55G??????.

At the least well cared for balas grow between 10-12".
Max size is listed as 16".

Yes, they're schooling fish. A 55g is not adequate for 1 much less a school. Or were you planning on doing a bigger tank (I don't know...you didn't list any other tank size though you hinted at upgrading )

Were you wanting to do schooling fish or no particular preference?

There's lots of african cichlids you could do in a 55g.

Smaller south american cichlids such as convicts (if you wanna go aggressive) or angelfish for a more peaceful tank.

As far as small schooling fish there are endless options...various species of tetras, rainbows, danios.

or were you looking at predatory?

Not sure what your preference is.

I don't understand... You say your 55g isn't large enough for your Oscar, yet you want to add more fish?

lol.

Well start looking all over the website. I think you need to be more specific ;)

I dunno what you'd feel are monsters, but the problem with a 55g is it's very narrow front to back so that cuts out a lot of fish that you could keep just fine even in a 75g.

There are tons of aggressive smaller cichlids you could do. You could do a group of tanganyikan cichlids, a lot of those species are small enough to go in a 55g but look and act pretty predatory (like this fish for instance: http://www.fishaholics.org/show_fish.php?FishIndex=2).

You could do a red hi fin wolf fish.

Senegal bichirs.

I don't really know what your preferences are.
