Here is a quetsion for thoes who have big experience with silver sharks. Why do my silver sharks always have to smash them selfs against the top glass of my tank and (DIE) ?????????????? I had three silvers that were perfectly healty for over two years, and at 4.00 am they didnt want to live any more I quess ? They started to smash them selfs against the glass. This is the only fish that I cannot keep alive why ?????????????

sorry for your loss....silver shark?

Something has freaked them out. Sudden change in water, lighting or other fish in tank. Generally they are flighty fish. Keep some floating plants so they know there is a barrier.

Did you turn all the lights on and have sudden movement to startle them ?

Look at what you have done and see if there were any environmental changes.

By Silver shark do you refer to the Tricolor or Bala shark ?

They are scare of ph, temperature changes so when you happen to change water, let you water slowly down to your tank instead of full flush. Same happen to all types of tin foil barbs. Best to have very little of water change at a time and do it more often instead of over a long period of time example 1 moonth or 2 month.

water change every month/ 2 month would need some dedicated nitrate removal sys in place! more like once a week. i have the problem when cleaning the fish tank out with syphon.Floating plants is a good shout

Yes the bala shark or tricolor shark. The only thing I was thinking that can had scared them was maybe not sure but I found one of them on top of the tank it managed to jump out of the tank from a small hole I have in the corners and when it was on top of the tank, it was making loud noises jumping on the glass top, that was what made me wake up at 4.00am the noise it was making, maybe that scared the other two but what stated the first one ? If that was the case ?????

I have got two tinfoil barbs and two lemons in the tank they are ok nothing happend to them. Temperature is ok normal like it always was as long as they lived in my tank 2 years, to say it short the water was always ok before and after PH GH KH AMONI NITRIT ***.......... And the silver sharks always die in the same way in my tank smashing them selfs against the top glass :-((((((((((((((((

I do my water changes every 3 weeks or so, about 1/3 water change and I have a 300gallon tank, and I cant put any plants in the tank because of the barbs I already tried that, but they will eat the plants

Did you move furniture around or heavy objects. I once spooked my discus by moving the coffee table around and I placed it near them. They were scared to death of me to death for quite some time. Bala sharks and other sharks are very jumpy.
