Silver tipped tetras

I know these guys aren't very monster like,but I'm using them to cycle some of my breeding tanks. So the other day I took them out and to my surprise saw tiny, tiny fish, like a quarter the size of a piece of rice. I also checked in the filter and found 5 more, so my question is how do I prevent them getting sucked up and how do I raise these small guys?

id say newly hatched baby brine shrimp and put a really fine filter wool/sponge around the filter intake.
