Well i got up this morning to find my trop pond all murky and lots of floating rubbish, and i tested my water and found my nitrate was 250 ppm +!!!!!!
My PH had crashed!
My pond holds around gal my filteration is a pond box rated for 4500litres, 2x Fluval FX5's and a ehiem 2213 canister! Theres a lot of bigfish but i only fed once every 3 days which makes it even more annoying. I ater change around 35-40% every week. Ive done a waterchange and its much clearer now. Im also adding another good external canister.
And doing more waterchanges.
So to reduce my bio-load ive got to move some fish out and oe being my 20-22"silver arowan, i love him to bits but i cant put him in a tank now especially since hes used to all the space the pond gives. Id rather keep him but hes a big srain on my filters as he only eats waitbait and mussle which are very messy. He also puts out a lot of waste.
The good thing is that hes going into into the 8x3x2 display tank where i work as a shop pet so ill still see him 3 days a week anyway. Hes always been strange and does jump and bite. Just thought ill let you guys know
Also ill get some pix of him when i catch him out tommorrow.
