Hi, i might change substrate in my aquarium in the near future and preferbly i want to take out all fishes when changing but have no second aquarium to use.
All i have is a plastic container holding roughly 20litre of water with a lid, put it in a dark closet with an airhose.

Could it be used to hold the fishes for 6-8 hours?

Regards.

They are around 12-16cm in length.

Sounds like that container is a bit on the small side but it should work. I would not feed them for a day or two before the day you switch them into the tub for the gravel change. That away they're not producing a huge amount of ammonia when they're in the tub.
