So as my final project for ap biology I was planning on doing a presentaion on similar fish from different parts of the world, or fish that appear similar from fresh and saltwater. The point would be to show analagous structures, which are structures that have evolved the same but in different environmental conditions. I have a few examples right not, including the saltwater cardinalfish and the freshwater bolivian ram. I was also planning on comparing all the types of arowana and lungfish. What are some other types I could include?

lochness monster and lake champlain sea creature :) I believe both will be discovered someday

gobies would be interesting to do research on. maybe snakehead an bowfin?

Bichirs remind me of bowfins. Similar shape, head(for some bichirs at least), and tail fin. If bichirs lived in the US they would probably be called dogfish by fishermen as well.

Knifefish or other electric sensing fish from both SA and Africa. Leaf fish of Africa (leopard ctenopoma and others) and SA Leaf fish.

On that note, ctenopomas and Asian anabantoids would be a good one to cover. Also, African, South American, and Asian knifefish would be good ones to use.

Another interesting one is how the same species of Pseudomugil occur in Australia and New Guinea. Similarities between African cichlids in the different lakes is a big topic.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm hoping that I can get the bosses approval and bring in a couple live examples from the store I work at. I'll deffinatly use some of these.
