Wanted to know if my sump would work.
I just realized I have some supplies to build a sump just sitting around not in use, I have a 50g (ugly) tank, and a submersible pond pump. I was kicking around the idea to just run a siphon from the tank to the sump and using the pond pump as a return, and maybe filling up the 50g with bio balls or scrubbies or something. Will this be sufficient? I know I could put a lot more work into it to make it better but I already have 2 fx5s and 1 xp3 on there (i plan to leave them there)
I also plan to add valves to the siphon and the pond pump to match the flow. I'll also make sure that my hanger from the tank to the sump is only a few inches from the water level in the tank in case my pump fails I don't drain my tank and flood the living room.
Oh this is all for my 300g
Thoughts..? Concerns? Tips? Keep in mind I wanna keep it simple as possible for now atleast.
