What should I do? (20 gal)

I have 4 rummy/3 black neons/2 ottos

My plans WERE to get 6 rummy, 5 black neons, 6 ottos, 6 pygmy cories, and maybe a few cherry shrimp.

however, i am open to suggestions...

What would you guys recommend?

Mind you, I am attempting a south american biotope (although no black water! my tank is replete with swords and a malaysian drift wood with anubias nana and an african rock (the only two/three things that are non-south american).

i have black substrate (fluorite gravel) and black background

Your stock plan is fine as it is. Add 4 more rummies on your plan along with 5-6 hatchets for the surface. Get a lid or the hatchets will 'fly' out of your tank.
