I am doing more water changes now then before, due to the fact i can always see all the crud. I have a UV, could be a better stronger one but, and everything else is the same as before and the water just seems greener looking. Anyone else notice this or have tips.... -mike

if the water looks green your glass could be covered in algea? The botton might have a little layer of it like my discus tank gets. I just scrub it off

its not algae, I think it just be the fact there is "so much glass" showing everywhere now and the glass if i remember originally wasn't perfectly clear at an angle or from a distance.

Thats what it is. When you had the gravel and decor, the extra color took the attention away from the glass and the color of the water. Get a blue or black background .. it may help a bit.

I have a black background on my 125 and empty you can see green also. It is the hue of the glass, in the 70's auto glass was the same way.

if your tank stand is open underneath, magfloat works great to mow any algae growth on the bottom.

Paint the bottom of the tank black, and you wont get that green reflection off of the bottom glass.

I know you said there is no algae but sometimes on my tanks even though it appears to be clear if I use the algae scrapper there is an ultra thin layer of algae. But I do agree with what RTF said...
