You may not want to have just one drain for filtration alone. Where is the hole located?
Can you add a picture of the tank?

You could plumb to use that to drain tank for WC if you dont use for filtration purposes.

For a two inch hole one usually uses a 1 1/4 inch bulkhead. Although check bulkhead sizing to be sure, at one of the plumbing sites.
For bottom drilled tanks, I usually add a standpipe to remove water near the surface, if the standpipe is too low, it can drain the entire tank in minutes.
If you need to drain the tank completely I like threaded bulkheads (as opposed to glued) for the flexibility of stand pipe remova, by just un-screwing the tall pipel.
I always have my return lines over the tank.
Below is one. As you can see, I like a lot of surface agitation this creates.

Below a standpipe, I use a Tee to offer an extra tank water entry point in case one gets clogged, with lots of plants clogging is common.

in the shot above you can sort of see the stand pipe, and the over the rim water return.

In the photo above, you can see a pipe leading outside to the yard (Pothos winding on it) , it is attached to the drain, to the sump, that PVC line below the tank.
When I wanted to do a water change I could turn a valve and redirect water outside to the yard, almost instant water change.

I had lines like this for all banks of tanks, although they were more complicated running throughout the fish room to do instant water changes by gravity for multiple tanks, all at once. Never had to turn off pumps, just open a valve and let gravity take water outside, until drained to pump intake level..

Below an example of a threaded bulkhead that fits 2 1/8" hole, but handles i" PVC piping.

I like inner diameter threading.

I glue the pipe cut to the height I need, to a threaded PVC fitting, and screw into the inner thread of the bulkhead.
