Hello, I was wondering what you guy thought about have 1 big fish in a tankor have a tank with a couple of dempsey's and other cichlids in the same tank. I like have 1 big fish per tank. Thanks

For Me It is nice to have one mixed tank But I love my monsters in pairs or solo because easier to keep in prestine conditions.

i am very between.i keep both tanks.i have a solo trimac in a 90, and other grow out tanks

I find most big cichlids are pretty social. They like having tankmates and seem to go insane by themselves. I think it is cruel to intentionally cause them to go crazy.

All my tanks are single fish or pairs. I don't like community tanks unless you have a true monster tank so everyone has there territory. I hate the nipping and constant fighting in tanks with multiple "aggressive" species....which a lot are when considering territory. Should of done a poll on this.

Same here. Love the stress free nature of a solo or pair tank depending on pair compatability of course

I have a solo trimac in 125g but I will never do it again. If I ever try that again its a pair or no way at all. I aggree with the above posters I think solo fish need a mate or something compatible tankmates with them to bring out thier personality.

Its not crule at the least! I would say keeping in a small enviorment with other cichlids having to always watch there back and be constally stressed is very much more crule! Like NWatson mentioned you would need a super large tank to house theae big guys comfortably!
