Today i found my 3.5/4 inch Jack Dempsey guarding a clutch of eggs.
The other cichlids in the tank with him are: a wild caught Oscar, similar size
A green terror about 2 inches.
Also used to have a breeding pair of Blue Acaras until recently
I have heard that oscars will lay eggs regardless of weather there is a pair or not but do Jack Dempseys do the same?
I know there is very little if any chance of the eggs hatching.
Does anyone have any information that may help me?

Just in case anyone was wondering i also have a Leopard Sailfin Pleco, a Rainbow Shark and waiting for a tandanis (eel tail) catfish

Yeah, pretty much all cichlid can lay eggs by itself. Eggs develop naturally and even if there's no male, sometimes the eggs are there and the cichlid will have to lay it regardless.

As for possible mates, neither the oscar nor the green terror is at all likely to be able to fertilize the eggs. They're all americans, but they're quite genetically different.

I have a female BGGG JD that lays hundreds of eggs every month,
But I have not found a male that she will breed with.
She guards them until they go bad.
