Hi All,

I have a sink with bad piping that will not work with my Python, but it is right next to my shower. I have well water. I am clearly not an expert on this and want to make sure. I am guessing there is a no-go on using water from the shower, and would appreciate any advice.

Many thanks.

Would think it would be just fine as long as no soap residue/shower scum found it's way into your tank, would half to be careful tho. I fill a jug out of tub faucet all the time for replacing evaporated water in all my tanks and never had a problem. my python won't hook to bathroom sink either so hook it to kitchen sink. Good luck.

I've been using my shower instead of a sink ever since I moved into my apartment. Its convenient because it has a higher water pressure and can fill my tanks faster. The adapter to attach a hose to a shower is different than the sink or your regular hose outlet though. I was able to find one at ace hardware but any plumbing store should have one for a couple of bucks.

Unless your shower is using rain water or something that isn't a tested source it should be fine. If it all comes out of the well you'll probably find the same pipe going to your shower also has a pipe coming off it going to your sink in your bathroom and kitchen.

Wipe down the shower faucet with vinegar to get the soap scum off, it cuts it quickly, washed away clean, and is fish safe in low quantities so if a drop gets in it won't hurt them.

A few places to consider. You should have depending on how your house is designed.. (unless you are in something like an apartment).. outside hose tap.. I use that commonly. But also in my garage I have a cold water tap as well I can use. If my tank is absent of fish the hot water tank works as well - as I have no sink connection or anything else to connect mine to to just valves on the water line.

power head in a bucket with hose from the hardware store....works like a champ

$20 power head, $15 in hose. Works in every sink.

I still python out the tank into a bucket, so I am not bucket free...but if I can cut it down to 1 way trips, I am a happy man.

Toilet, sink, bathtub, spigot its all the same. Well, city they all come from ONE line. If I installed a BRAND new toilet, id drink out of it :)
