Dear Friends,,,,

Are these so called sinking pellets,,,, good for the Flowerhorns or are the floating ones better ????

I like the floating personally, less mess I find but both are fine.

Agreed...sinking pellets are messy.

It really doesnt matter. What ever you prefer and fish will eat. I use both. I also use NLS sinking pellets, and there is no mess. I guess if you feed the much larger pellets with messy eaters it can get messy.

I have a tank with a water level overflow, so floating food only lasts a couple minutes on the surface before being sucked in here. Its a waterfall system (4 tanks connected by waterfalls with an overflow return on the last tank), so I use sinking pellets for the lower tanks and floating for the ones higher up in the flow. In this respect they are useful for me, though IME sinking pellets don't taste as good as floating (i've tasted them : P) because they have more filler to make them sink. Fish seem to notice this too

I feed sinking, as long as the pellets aren't too big for the fish to easily swallow there is no mess from excessive chewing.

I'm not sure where you got that idea, but it is 100% incorrect. The only difference between sinking and floating, is floating pellets are made with honeycomb type voids in them, which in turn traps air & causes them to float. Sinking pellets sink becase they are denser.

I must have junk pellets. My hit the bottom and explode. The fish love 'em, they fight for them as the sink. But if I accidentally dump more than 3 or 4 at a time, they disintegrate almost instantly once they hit the sand.

That is crazy CLDarnell. What kind of pellets are those? I highly recommend NLS. I am sure many other people here do as well.
