not sure if i got the spelling right but its close. whats a good price on an adult pair of these fish? also what are some pros and cons to keeping them? thanx salty

I would pay around $150-200 for a quality pair of Synspilum. The pros to keeping them is that they are absolutely one of the best looking of all Cichlids and they get very big. The cons to keeping them is that they get very big and need a large tank to keep them in.

Big as in a male can get almost 16". :)

If you've got a big tank, go for it.
Yeah, and the shape of the Synspilum makes it more massive then say a 16" Jaguar. Kinda like having a big frying pan swiming around in the tank.

nice fish repair a lfs has a pair for 125 male is about 8 inches or so. i have a 300 gal so i have the space i also have a empty 120 i was thinkin of using. the 120 is my first choice 4x2x2 too small or just right?

Rapps would probably charge $150 for a nice pair. You should be able to pick up high quality youngsters from him for 10 bucks each or less.

rapps does have nice fish and ive bought from him before, but with shipping its cheaper to stay local on this fish. besides the local guys need our support too. i'll keep ya updated as to whether or not i get them.
