My tank recently came down with ick really bad while I was on vacation, sad to say 4 of my Cichlids died due to not getting proper treatment from the person taking care of them. It sucks but I can't be terribly mad about it, needless to say the ones that I did care more for lived through the whole ordeal.
So I get home and immediately set up isolation tanks for the remaining fish in the tank. I get them up and running, treated, and the fish in right away. So now I look at the tank and realize it needed to be tore completely down to the bone that way I can 1st start my new project with the tank, and 2nd get rid of all the nasties left from the sickness.
I run my siphon (the one the runs from the sink to the tank) set up and drain it down to the bottom. I swish around all the gravel to get all of the crap up, fill it half way, swish it around some more and drain completely. Well now that this is all out of the way I move onto the side of the tank.
(This whole time I am texting a friend btw)
I set up some pressure in the hose using the valve switch to get a kind of pressure wash feeling to the sides of the tank (WORKS GREAT), I would get a text and close the valve off, then start up with a little more washing, get another text, so on and so forth. Well about 15 minutes into this I had completely forgotten to release all the pressure so that it would be a fresh start, I hear this loud BANG! I look over only to see the middle of my house flying around down the hallway spraying water EVERYWHERE! I looked like a loose firehouse!!! I ran to shut off the water and grabbed the carpet shampoo'er to get as much of the water up as possible.
Right now the machine won't pick up anymore water, so a small heater is blowing HOT air to kinda dry it out. Then i will proceed tomorrow to shampoo the whole hallway. Needless to say I learned my lesson, electronics and water really don't mix....
That's my story!
