I found a male I wanted to breed with my female. He was beautiful having mostly metallic blue and a metal orange sheen on his body. Catch is he was a lil under 3" when I bought him. My female was 5.5". And I decided to wait until they got closer. Currently he's a little under 5" the female is almost 7".

When should I wait to introduce the 2? do I wait til he's the same size as her or more, or is there any chance the male can be smaller and have them still pull off a successful spawn

I have a thought, how do you know that they are male and female. Sexing a jag at 3 inches is a bit difficult. Males, tending to grow much bigger than females, is one indication of gender, and thats if they are raised together. The only other sure way is the shape of the breeding tube.

I know because he is now almost 5" that's how. It's in the first post.
I got lucky lol

Not really contributing though...thanks anyway

Ok, you contribute, how the hell do you know the sex difference???? There are a lot of jag keepers out there that have trouble telling the difference. If you've found a method I'm sure we will all want to know.
