Morning all,

I was wondering what the biggest size difference between Cichla you would recommend is? I have just bought a 13" Mono and was wondering if it would be good to put him in with my 7-8" Oscellaris?

Cheers
Sam

It really depends on the cichla. I just recently introduced my 7-8" kels and.Guiana ocell with my 14" mono and the mono is super cool. Acts like their his size or vise versa. I also have 3 dithers so that might help too. I also have a 16" orino that's a b*tch that tried to eat a 6" silver dollar which definitely does not fit in her mouth. I KNEW she would try eat my smaller.cichla so I removed her from the tank. Just gotta get to know the fishies attitude really

General rule seems to be it's okay if they are larger than eating or choking size for the other fish. 9 inches was out of the question with my 16-17 resident lady, but she seemed fine with the same fish once they were 11. Dithers definitely help, same bass banged up a large oscar first day I put him in, but afterward she could have cared less. She hit the other two first pbass when they were introduced, but settled down afterward.

I have lots of decor to break up line of sight in my tank, and most importantly, I watched the hell out of the tank that first night, and didn't kid myself about whether or not they are getting along. Have a net and a divider ready!
