Hi all MFKers~! =)

I am interested in keeping aros with my bichirs but my tank size is currently only 2ft. I am afraid that aros are gonna grow into big sized and outgrow my tank which is something I dont want.

I have heard of this theory that a fish will grow accordingly to the tank size. So does it mean if I keep a fish from young it will adapt to its surroundings and grow only as big as the tank?

Can anyone confirm on this theory?

If possible can any experienced aro keepers advice me on what species are cheap and smaller breed for a new aro keeper.

Thanks all~! =)

do not get an arow. that is a mith. the arowana will continue to grow till it dies in that tank. so, it will live in there for life, but the life will be horrible and about 6 months.

dont get one till you got at least a 125 preferably 180 to grow him out.

please dont get an arowana

The best thing for you would probably be an African Butterfly Fish. Some people say they remind them of miniature Arowanas.

forget the aro unless you're gonna get a bigger tank. just focus on the bichir.

I wouldn't even put bichirs in a 2 ft tank even senegals(the smallest i think ) are to active for that size.

just focus on bichirs, aros will outgrow your tank sooner or later

Get a bigger tank , about 180+ Gal' tank !

If you get a Awo' for your 2Foot tank and the Awo' is only say about 3inch in lenght the Awo' would outgrow that tank with in about 2 - 4Months , so IMO it would be a waste of money and a very curel thing to do , by getting a fish which can grow about 3Foot fully grown if not bigger and trying to keep it in a 2Foot tank .

Save your money for a bigger tank and then think about getting a Awo' and Bichir . As the Bichir will also out grow a 2Foot tank with in a couple of months . :)
