What is the adult size and tank size for the smallmouth and largemouth bass?

small mouth bass grow fairly large i believe around 20" ? and have a big appetite, id say you are going need a pretty large tank to house 1, or a pair, depending on how big you get this fish at and how long you intend keeping it for.
This is what i found out about the largemouth bass:-

Largemouth bass grow 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm) during their first year, 8 to 12 inches (20 to 30 cm) in two years, 16 inches (40 cm) in three years. They are usually green with dark blotches that form a horizontal stripe along the middle of the fish on either side. The underside ranges in color from light green to almost white. They have a nearly divided dorsal fin with the anterior portion containing nine spines and the posterior portion containing 12 to 13 soft rays. Their upper jaw reaches far beyond the rear margin of the eye.

Hope this helps :)

not sure on smb but i know a lmb can grow big.. clospe to 25#'s in the wild, but in captivity of course its different. id say 15-20"+ in ideal situations so around 240-400 gallons depending on ur budget..as long as u have a long/deep footprint

Thanks for all the info I was just planning to get a 540 or 840 gallon pond with some bluegill and other large sunfish and perch, so I was wondering which bass would be better(smaller, not as aggressive)?

they are both quite aggressive and territoreal, but smallmouths have a smaller appetite and tend to grow slower. Smallmouths are also susceptible to ick and other diseases where largemouths dont seem to be infected as easily. Ive lost my smallmouths on three seperate occasions due to ick while my largemouths did not seem to acknowledge the disease problem

I worked at a hatchery and cared for a LMB in one of our displays that basically became my pet. I hand fed him pretty much every day. He ended up hitting 15" in a little over a year (starting from 4"). Given enough food, they grow FAST

I've settled on the 1215 gallon pond. How many lmb could I keep(so they each have enough space to reduce aggression) with 6 bluegill,6 yellow perch and like 2-3 other sunfish species with about 2-3 fish per species? Dimensions are 9' by 9' if it is 2' deep, but I'll make it deeper.

So could I maybe do 2 in that pond? Plenty of space!
