I'm thinking about getting some skate to feed my p's, what do you guys think? will it do any bad to my p's?

what is that?? hey jp. i had a question. how long could i keep a 2 - 3 inch ruby red spilo in a 20 long? loll sorry for the derail

that's a marine fish, similar to ray I suppose. saw them in grocery store so thinking of getting some for my p's.
never had a ruby red spilo so not sure about their growth rate but I would assume it'll be similar as other serra, especially to maculatus.
20L is 30"x12"x12" so I would guess maybe 6 months to a year???? what other thinks?
if the fish is very active then add a power head to provide some current. what's the long term plan you have anyway?

Well you can't keep it in there for life in good conscience, so I would say move it out once it hit's around 5-6", or half the width of the tank. You'll probably want to move it out before that because everytime it gets spooked (which is all the time) it's gonna smack into the glass.

and to jack,

I don't see any reason not too. Raja spp. do NOT contain Thiaminase.

A 100g is more than adequate.

It's either S. spilopleura, or S. sanchezi, both of which when kept as solo specimens would be fine in a 40g or 50g breeder.

I'm going to get a spilo too, once my son's college fund is paid for....in about 20 or so years...... :(
the sad part is the second one is on the way, due in July........I'm never going to get out of this deep hole.
