I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for a skimmer for my 1200 gallon aquarium. I have been leaning towards the HSA-3000. also have been looking at the rk2 25pe model. I would like to use a reeflo dart pump for the feed on the HSA 300 skimmer.

thanks

RK2 would be sweet.
I like ETSS skimmers. Down draft style skimmers are a bit easier to keep stable compared to most counter current skimmers.

thanks for the info, I forgot to mention I have been also looking into the etss 2500 skimmer. Allot of these skimmers like to use the iwaki 100rlt pump which is ok, but seems to be really inefficient compared to reeflo pumps.

Most all injector type skimmers are going to use the pressure rated pumps that cost to run. The reeflo wont snappers, dart wont run those skimmers.

Deano,

What did you mean by this "The reeflo wont snappers". I ask because I tried this also. I tried running two HSA 3000 off one ReefFlo Hammerhead. As Cohl pointed out they are more inefficient then Blue line or iwaki pumps. But I found that my skimmers did not run anywhere near as well as running them each off their own Blue line 100.

Thanks Jason

I am pretty sure it has to do with the style of pumps The Iwaki pumps are more of a high pressure pump. which makes them good for skimmers, whereas the reeflo pumps do move allot of water but at a lower pressure. Im not sure if this is completely right, but this is just what a i have kinda picked up from reading.

I think an aqua c ev2000 would be more economical and I get amazing results with mine. But its also a spray injection skimmer requiring a pressure rated pump.
