skimmer on cichlid tank

has anyone used a protein skimmer on a fw tank? i have a 55g with a whisper ex 70. gonna put mbuna cichlids in it and going to do the over stock to cut down on aggression route. i know my little filter is not going to cut it, so was wondering if getting another whisper ex 70 would be the way to go or if getting a protien skimmer would work better. was thinking of a bakpak or similar skimmer any suggestions would be great.

skimmers aren't very effective with FW, mostly for SW to reduce water changes, how many cichlids?

Skimmer won't work on FW. Invest the money on another filter or RO system and just increase WC's.

because of water tension differances FW does not foam up like SW and does not remover solids

Clarity protein skimmers has made one for fresh water. Not sure how effective it is or its price. I believe there are also a few other manufactures producing them as well. Google " fresh water protein skimmer koi"

not sure on number of fish, still researching that 15 or 20 but thats just a guess. thank you on all the info, i will deffinetly get another filter to conteract the bioload.
