Skimmer Options

What skimmer would you recommend for a 65 gal aquarium with a deep live sand bed, about 40-50 pounds of live rock and a snowflake eel.

The more research I do, in the short term I think with a deep sand bed, and I'll be adding additional live rock this upcoming weekend and the one occupant..that is enough biological filtration until I finalize a sump plan.

I just want to know what skimmer would be ideal, including brand ect for this.If you have a website I could order it from ,that'd be great to.

not sure on a brand. ebay is your best bet you will find them cheaper then in a store and most have free shipping.
 
Being in Canada, your going to pay a large amount for import/customs taxes. I would have a look at BigAls since they are based out of Canada. Vertex and Reef Octopus are two good skimmers that I think Big Als carries.

Are you running a sump? Or do you need a HOB skimmer?
 
I had a HOB skimmer made by AquaC called the Remora. Very nice

I'll be putting in a sump within the month, but for now I want to grab a skimmer that can be expediate shipped within the next few days.
 
The coralife skimmer is adequate (not great, not bad)... the advantage is your can turn it into a sump skimmer later. The AquaC Remora is the favorite among most on this forum and I bought it on members recommendation. I like dit alot because I didn't need to fiddle with it, just empty the collection cup once a week.
 
If I were you, I would try and find a Eshopps PSK-75H. This will be your best buy for just getting a good protein skimmer till you set a sump up.
I have two of these, a little bit bigger ones, but they work really well. Easy to adjust and get working.
Here is a ebay listing that will ship worldwide, but I would see if you can find one in Canada.
I would not get the Coralife skimmer, the reviews Ive read are they are not worth the money.
