Skimmer Options

You technically don't actually need a skimmer.. haters please don't flame me for that.. but it is an aid in helping with the control of biological waste in your tank, this will keep you from doing excessive amounts of water changes. Just keep an eye on your water parameters and make sure your nitrates are in check and you will be fine until the protein skimmer shows up. I was freaking out when you said you wanted to go with a coral life skimmer, I have had a lot of headaches from them, yes they work well, but they are really hard to balance.

I wouldnt bother. Just keep an eye on water parameters and do water changes as needed, while you wait on the skimmer.

Would it hurt? I have an extra aqua clear sitting around I could put on..I was just worried about ill effects.

Yeah, i went with the remora...lol The cora life is out..The more I researched the more Discouraged I became

Good choice.

There are people out there that say that skimmers have negative effects, but in 8 years of reefing I havent seen it.
