I have a reefoctopus hob skimmer. its the 100-ss i think. Basically, it was broken in and producing good skimmate last spring when my tank was set up and i've since broken it down but re-set it up on saturday and now its producing a ridiculous amount of bubbles and it fills the cup in like 5 minutes and looks like its going to overflow all the time. is there something wrong with it or will this go away?

They can overproduce sometimes with new water, but it sounds like at the mo you need to lower the water level in the skimmer.

how do i do that?

I dont know a heck of alot about the hang on types, mine is external so i have a tap to adjust these levels. You could prob adjust yours by slightly lowering the amount of water being pumped in.

i don't know this skimmer model but i believe most skimmers have a control valve. fully open the control valve or raise the skimmer higher from the water level u have it in. Or it could just be new water like Ricko said.
