Skimmer Question

I have a 55 gallon brackish tank SG 1.018 after todays w/c...I use a HOB Whisper and a sponge filter......Should I use a skimmer and get rid of the other filters? Do I have to use live rock if I use a skimmer? Can I use both skimmer and mechanical filter?

yes but if it is true brackash then both would be fine as long as the spg stays kinda high. If you lower it to much the skimmer won't function properly.

What kind of fish are you keeping? If they are the kind that enjoy SW as adults, then I say just go all the way to SW & get LR too.
