It doesn't say you cant. I really cant say enough good things about purigen it really did make my water look like a Diatom just ran on the tank for 5 hours except it looks like that all the time. Great product and call tech support at seachem for your question just to make sure.

Best of luck

No. You're talking about two different things. You can use them both, but a protein skimmer is an invaluable tool in keeping saltwater fish.

since they both remove organic wastes, there is a seachem response in their forum saying you can...just wondering about the validity of that claim

They are not gonna steer you wrong. Try starting with 100 ml for a tank 100 gallons or less. If it works do what I did and get a liter and use half and charge the other and rotate.. im sure you get the idea. My AC110 is just a foam block and a ton of purigen and some matrix carbon. Water looks polished (It has other filters and UV but there was a remarkable difference in clarity after I started using purigen).

I use it in some FW tanks, but curious about the marine side for a current project. I'll probably go ahead with purigen and a smaller skimmer to see the load change on the skimmer with or without it.

Sounds like a great experiment.
