Skin Color Changes in Bichirs

They change with the substrate and surroundings ... That bein said iv noticed small changes from time to time in my farana lap iv seen her go almost all black to almost all white to faded to outstanding patterns even saw her turn her black patterns blue!!!!!! Like baby blue it was awesome ..... Thisall happened with no changes done to substrate at all lol
 
A lot of things can affect the tone of a bichir. Substrate is the easiest to recognize, water quality is one where a before and after really shows the difference, if they're hungry, the lights are on too long, the lights are off for too long, how stressed they are. A lot of things can affect the tone of a bichir. Some more than others and for some they aren't affected by some of the things I listed. I have seen some of my bichirs get completely faded when I leave town and return and they are hungry, others look the exact same. It really depends on the poly. Almost all of the time substrate will have an affect on your polys, same with both having the lights on or off for too long. And for some stress is a really big one that you will notice.

had a ornate that went about 7 months .... Had a Congi that went around 5 months or so ..... U can tell when they r starting to starve because their tail will start to warp/curve over on its side .... U will no what I mean if u when see it .... It's not something u will see and be like hmm is it starving lol u will no cause it's severe
