How often to Ball phytons shade? do they have to be a certain lenght or age to start shading?

you mean "shed"?

Most newborn (or newly-hatched) snakes shed (also known as "molting") a week or so after birth. After that, most young snakes shed every few months, and as they mature, they do so less frequently, perhaps every 5-6 months. Depends a lot on frequency of feeding, growth rate, not too mention the particular species.
