I just bought 5 new clown loaches to add to my 5 old loaches.
but i noticed that these new ones are a little skinny? is this normal in clown loaches in lfs? or should i suspect any problem with them?

because my old clown loaches are quite fat :)

Welcome considering they're coming from an LFS they probably haven't been fed as well as your old ones. Start power feeding them

Another reason they could be skinny is a condition known as "knifeback". This can kill them, but is treatable. Do a search for "knifeback" on this site and you should find details on how to deal with it. Hope they're ok. Best of luck.

Skinny loaches often have internal disease, it can be treated but it's tough. Levamethiasole is an answer.

thanks everybody! :)
they are not really super skinny, but thinner than my old loaches. but they did have a tankmate which looks really really skinny :)
will powerfeed them first . btw they are still shy :( my old ones are begging for food but the new ones. when they saw me they went into hiding.
I'm not sure if i can get Levamethiasole, can i use beefheart with garlic for now?

hope mine doesn';t have parasite just underfed.
i have another tank with small loaches , lost some because they became skinny, but thought it was because they are really small.

thanks for the helo.

Garlic is a great feeding tool to reduce risk of parasites.

thanks :) I'll try to include garlic in their diet :)
will have to make my own beefheart mix :D

mmmm just curious. would they feed on garlic? if not mixed in beefheart? :D

I bought some pretty skinny loaches from Petsmart. They were skinny to the point that they had little ridges in their sides. After about six weeks or so of regular feeding, they filled out and became normal looking healthy loaches.

here are some pioctures of my new cls,
anything wrong with them? or just underfed?
