Ever since I introduced a silver datnoid to my tank, the GT has been acting weird. At first he was overly aggressive towards to dat, but now all he does is hide in a cave. The dat and the GT both sit and hide in their caves. I realize that this is because each fish is guarding a territory, except that the GT's behavior has gotten even stranger. Now he doesn't seem to care about food as much, whereas before he would come asking for it. Also, he acts very skittish whenever I come near to the tank. The water parameters are okay, since the datnoid and catfish are doing fine.

Both fish are currently in a 55 gallon, which I am planning to upgrade to a 75 this summer. Unfortunately, 75 is as large as I can do. Any thoughts or ideas?

just a suggestion. maybe you could remove all decor and get them to be more brave. then add it back later if you want. i know your feeling. my convict was the toughest of all my fish and now hes the lil wuss.

I've considered that option, but a couple of things concern me: the catfish will be more likely to "hide" next to the heater and burn himself even more times than he already does :irked:, and I'm afraid that the other two will get more aggressive towards each other. Still, I suppose I could try it. Any other suggestions?

If you are worried about heater burns, buy a heater cover, or just remove anything like caves they can get inside of. Otherwise it is patience:)

I have a feeling that giant danios would end up as Datnoid food.

cool man so you found a Dat good to hear

seems like peoples GTs have been acting wierd lately hmmm give him time mabye it will go back to normal

Also aren't silver dats brackish

Leave the lights off on the tank, feed live blood worm if you're really worried about the GT and be patient - I sincerely doubt a datnoid of equal size toa GT is going to bully it around for long, and you're probably just more disappointed in that the fish are now defending their territory's rather than interacting with their surroundings. Comes with the territory of adding multiple aggressive fish to a tank, unfortunately.
