So, I've had my Jack for some time now, a few months at least. He is always hiding... ALWAYS! He's the boss man of the tank, he has dither fish, plenty of hiding places... The only thing I can think of is my dreaded white gravel, or that I got him as an adult?

Any ideas? Is this just his personality? I've had the problem with a bunch of fish. :irked: What's the deal?

in my expierences with jacks they are always like this ive had many and they are all like this....

Every Jack I've ever had have been like this too. I think it is just one of their personality traits. They tend to be lurkers. In general I've noticed that they usually find a spot they like and hang out there unless they have a reason to come out, like food or to chase another fish off.

Spot on. Well at least he's not abnormal. He's scared of me and my camera though :irked:

Most Jacks act this way. They hide and are easily spooked. Jacks always made my other fish nervous with their behavior. My last JD was very skittish. She would run and hide when she saw me and the other fish hid when she did. I got rid of the Jack and everything changed, no more nervous fish.

My jackie was like this in the beginning...just spend a lot of time with it..he sees u as a threat. Your the monster that's always rearranging things! After a lot of face time jackie and I can now stare at each other for hours! If I come in the room without greeting her she goes nut to get my attention. She really puts on a show!

Took about 2 weeks for my male to come out of hiding. He was still somewhat shy but 90% of the time he was out and about swimming around.
