Anyone done this?

if so any pics?

what do people think?

I dont want to get slate tiles, just flat pieces of slate from the LFS or gardening shop and lie them on the bottom.

would this be ok?

cheers
Matt

should be. i have an antique tank that has a slate bottom and thats it for the bottom. so i wouldnt see why placing slate pieces in the bottom would be any different

There was someone on another forum who was thinking about do the same thing. One thing you could do is have the slate cut to the size of your tank probaly a tab smaller to fit down in there. Then use suction cups to lower it then using a sealent to seal around the edges to keep anything like food and poo from getting underneath. Then if you decide to take it out all you have to do is cut the seal.

thanks you guys might have to give it ago, was going to put some big messy cichlids in and thus slate would be so much easier to clean than gravel or sand and might even look really good. that seal idea is a good one thankyou, dont want poo and stuff getting underneath it and stuffing up my water chemistry.

ive been looking for pics to see if anyone else has done it before but no success :(

cheers
Matt
