Maidstone-20120714-00194.jpgAfter getting fed up cleaning my white coral sand in a heavily stocked 180 cichlide community I was leaning towards a glass bottom for cleanslyness, I then had an idea. Here's some pics of roof tiles in the bottom, not sure if any others have done this but I'm really happy with it, my 190 also has it now! The fish seem happier too!

Just a question doesn't roofing tiles have a tar base to hold the gravel? not worrying about any chemicals in water? I might be thinking wrong here so just a friendly question?

Good point. Could you post a pic of the tile that you used? Would like to see that. It looks nice and clean btw. Great job.

This is an awesome idea and i love it..... im not a massive gravel fan, i only have a 10kg bag of black gravel in my 5x2 and its a real thin layer. I think i might take this idea and have a play and see what works for my tank.

They are a natural slate from spain so I'm not too worried about chemicals, I washed them encase any were used when It was cut/prepared, there's no tar on them that I can see and all is good so far. Been in there for two weeks now so fingers crossed it'll be ok! I'll keep you updated.
