Maybe someone will post a link for everyone. But in opefe it talks about a caribe that lived 28years at 11" its believed it jumped from the tank n died now the really interesting parts it started life in a 10gal n most of its life in a 55gal tank. 28years! When did pellets come out 15 years ago? I bet this fish lived off goldfish for first 15years of its life if not longer! Who know how long it might of lived if it hadn't jumped.is it possible some of these fish can live 50-60 even 75 years old?

It's an interesting case. It's anecdotal evidence at best however. I would say that if you want a fish to live a long time and grow really big you should be feeding it things that are known to be healthy for it to eat. There are always exceptions to the rules. There are people who smoke a pack a day and live to be a hundred without cancer, does that mean the national cancer institute or the surgeon general should encourage everyone to smoke?

Can't answer the age question as I've never owned a P for 28 years. Cichld sticks have been around forever - as to the diet of the P it is as of yet still unknown to me, could've been raised on shrimp, mussels, and fish fillets or whole smelt - all of which have been easily obtainable in a grocery store for over well over 30 years.
