Hello :) I was wondering if anyone has kept a Sleeper for their brackish tank? I know that the species gets very large, but Im prepared to do the necessary upgrades when the time comes. My LFS doesnt know jack **** about brackish fish and they have an "odd ball" tank as they call it where they will occasionally have some monos or archers or something like that and I noticed in my last visit they had a sleeper. As well as another archer and another mono which I may just pick up as well :naughty:

I havent acted on purchasing this fish yet, I went to get him a week or so ago and the fish was compating a rather bad case of ich. I probably wont be getting this one...but in the near future I would like to look into getting one. I knew that they were in theory a brackish fish...Ive just never seen anyone keep them in such. Thanks for your reply :)

Here's a picture of my sleeper. he's in a brackish tank with a trio of monos, a gymnothorax eel, a Silver dat, and an archer fish.

Sleepers occur naturally in FW, brackish, and SW. There are populations that live and breed in each or move through all 3. Differences noted are that those that live predominantly in FW grow to smaller size than those that live in SW. The 1 foot mark is the common adult size for sleepers in fresh. While, nearly 3 foot is the common adult size for those living in marine conditions.

Very nice fish :) They do seem to have better coloring when kept in some salinity than when they are kept in FW I think.

i have a sleeper goby i keep him temp. in my 55 g. i have a 75g cycling for him and plan on getting a 150 g in the future ... if you get him make sure his buddies in his tank arent small enough to fit in his mouth ..cuz once the lights go out thats it he goes on a hunting spree lol heres a couple pics of mine..

The one I was looking at was about Id say 3" so hed be fine with my other BW fish, the smallest fish in that tank are puffers and nothing is gonna touch them :p This fish was being sold as a knight goby for 4.99 which from what Ive seen was a fabulous price for a Sleeper. Perhaps theyll get another one in and Ill grab it up.
