come across some sleepy cod in the fish shop today. looked them up on youtube and they get pretty big 19 inch i saw. the ones in the shop are about 1 inch. would a sleepy cod be ok with a pleco and eels and cichlids? has any one had any experience with one?

If it gets 19", that tank won't be nearly large enough.

I Have kept this species in the past and they are one of my favorite Natives, 4ft is too small for an adult. They are very fragile when they are small so i would watch out for other fish picking on them, when they get a bit bigger the can look after themselves and if they get hassled but other fish it just eats them.....

I disagree with the others, I reckon a 4ft tank is plenty large enough for a Sleepy Cod. I grew one from 5cm to 25cm in a 3ft tank, they are so inactive that I wouldn't worry too much about tank size. I doubt it will get to 19'' also, 12'' - 14'' is far more likely. Oh yeah and they are a wicked fish at feeding time.

Wow.
I want one!
