I just noticed today that my Gar has a small white film on his eye.
Is this the start of a fungus?

Saprolegnia Fungus or a gram-negative bacterial infection.

Any guesses?

Nothing really?
I may try some melafix and light salt for 10 days and see if it clears up.
There are a handfull of other fish in the tank that so no signs of this.
I wonder if there are any other possible pathologies for such a condition.

Moved to quarantine and it appears today to look more like pop-eye condition.
The water quality is good so after work I will pick up some maracyn in the event it is bacterial.
In the meantime I will treat with magnesium chloride (epsom salt) and just do 50% water changes in the hospital tank.
He was eating without issue this morning.
