Aside from discus and Uaru, is there any other CA/SA cichlid that's fry feed off their Mucous/slime coat?
Great Info mate! I guess several profiles online need to be updated. Has anyone experienced this behaviour firsthand? Just wondering because i have spawned several angelfish pairs as well as 2 JD pairs over the years without ever witnessing this. However, I have seen it with a BP pair (not mine).Midas Madness;3639907; said:Just looked through my TFH collection and its October 2009, Eating Mom and Dad: Cichlid Parentophagy, By Wayne Leibel. He goes into depth about his experience with it. He also explains George Barlow's experiment with Midas Cichlids. Very interesting and nice article.
Here is the list of cichlids he put in his article that have that behavior.
-oscars
-angel fish
-green chromides
-some tilipia
-many central american cichlids
-Midas Cichlid
-Red Devils
-A. Longimanus
-Parachromis Friedrichsthalii
-Excichlasoma Beani
-convict cichlids

Cheers! My original question said aside from discus and Uaru.. But thanks for taking the time to help out so much and cheers for the vid!!Midas Madness;3639960; said:He mentions discus, pikes, and his jags also. They were in separate places in the article. Forgot To mention them in the list.
I breed discus and angelfish. I've never seen an angelfish do it, but my discus always do. Here is a video of some discus fry feeding off their parents.
