I currently have 2 2.5" PVC pipes with a 3/4 inch slot cut down the length and placed in the tank horizontally 1 at the surface, the second at about 6 " from top of sub-strait. Both running so the slot runs almost the length of the tank along the back wall This is plumbed as the Intake to my overflow filter set up. 1" PVC DIY
Both "Draw pretty well into the overflow and filter .. Note the Over flow is plumbed thru the back of the tank wall at about at the top of the sub-strait. I have tested this when adding Super Malachite Green F to the tank. I alwas do that when adding new fish even after a good quarentine period "just to be sure"
I am beginning to regret the 2.5" size of the intake pipes. They are large and a bit of an Eye sore... one at the top is kinda ok not as noticeable.. But the lower one is not easy to "Disguise"
My Question. If I revert from the 2.5" PVC and use 1 " or 1.5 " with a 1/2 or so slot cut in them (length of the pipe)
will I still have good flow? Considering that the overflow pipe itself is only a 1" So that limits the flow , Right?
Thanks in advance. I think the results will be the same flow from either the 2.5" or the 1" as the restrcked part is the 1" thru the tank back into the filter.
