slow computor,impatient user

hey guys,whan i go to a thread,and dont care if i miss a pick or not,i keep trying to scroll down but every time more stuff loads it forces me back to whats loaded instead of leaving me whear im at.the computers im using are good spead so what the heck ,is their a setting im missing.Please help before my laptop goes on my next surf trip ,and i toss it offthe peir.

What's your connection speed or how are you connecting to the internet? The images are so large that they're still loading as you're scrolling down. You're not missing any setting.

How much memory (RAM) has your machine got? If it's short of ram Everything will be slow (and flakey). A lot of cheap laptops got sold with only 190mb of usable ram, almost useless for running XP.

Popping in an extra memory stick will give it a new lease of life for very little $$ if thats the case

Set your interface up...(Display Mode above) for threaded mode only (never hybrid mode on a slow computer). This will save a lot of bandwidth and allow you to only load and look at the posts you WANT to see and will avoid loading pictures. Additionally you can go into user CP general settings and disable pictures and smillies. this will speed things up quite a bit for you...

Increase the vertual memory level on your computer and clear out internet files daily. All of this along with more ram of course...will help you keep up with a slower machine.

im going to try a diferent connection soon,i think im just being extra picky.the laptop is a year old hp and normaly seems fast enough.thanks you guys.It has a amd turion 1.8 ghz or something like that lol.sorry im tired.
